Product Description
High Potency Vitamin C
Skin, the largest organ in human body, protects itself from oxidative stress
generated by sunlight and pollution with two types anti-oxidants, one
enzymatic, which we have no control to fortify, other one is non-enzymatic
which we have control to fortify (through supplements in foods or thru
topical preparations).
The major non-enzymatic antioxidants include L-Ascorbic Acid
(Vitamin C), Tocopherol (Vitamin E) and Co-Enzyme Q10 (ubiquinone)
Collagen, a building and supporting protein in the connective tissue of skin
is an essential p.art and also indicates skin firmness, flexibility, color (dull
or rosy) and overall wellness.
Oxidative stress generates ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species), which attacks
membrane tissue. L-Ascorbic Acid protects aqueous (Water) space and
Tocopherols lipid (Oil) space. The skin membrane consists of both
aqueous and lipid membrane spaces.
ROS can be reduced by Tocopherol, which in turn are generated by
Vitamin C. By adding Vitamin C and E to topical preparations, we can limit
this ROS activity cycle (See L.Packer pictorial cycle of Vit.C and E-a
Dynamic Duo against Photo aging).
Only water soluble Vitamin C and oil soluble Vitamin E are involved in this
mechanism. If you use other forms of vitamin C, such as fat- soluble C,
they have to be broken down in the skin by an enzyme called Esterases. Is
it effective; nobody knows.
